Electronic Cigarettes: General Information

In 2003 a Asian inventor, Hon Lik, developed the debut electronic cigarette as a healthier choice to filtered tobacco smoking. Electronic cigarettes emit a vapor that is meant to imitate the personalty and sensations of smoking, and is marketed as a smoking cessation instrument.

These devices, including electronic cigars provide a cleaner alternative to filtered cigarettes by eliminating the carcinogens, tar, and chemicals that are taken in by smokers. An electronic cigarette functions by vaporizing a propylene glyco, or glycerin based fluid in order discharge the vapor that is inhaled. They fundamentally work in the same way a humidifier does, in that there is no combustion required to produce the mist that it emits.

The foremost use for electronic cigarettes is as a smoking cessation instrument. They are supposed to cut down a smoker’s intake of filtered cigarettes by replacing them with a safer choice. The experience of an e-cig is supposed to mirror the sensation of smoking, and does so with less detrimental effects than are found in filtered cigarettes. Although they are not completely good for the user, as expressed by FDA studies, they are far less harmful for the user than average cigarettes are, and hence offer the public a cleaner alternative.

Another point to be brought up about these products is that they do not create an environmental disturbance. The vapor dissipates speedily, and presents none of the side effects found in second hand smoke. Electronic cigars do not demand combustion to function, and thus the exhaled vapor is not a danger to those around the user, or the environment. Since this is the case, these products are readily allowed to be used indoors, and this comments to their less harmful effects.

All in all, these products provide smokers with a smarter, healthier way to smoke, and as the product is intended, a means to cut back on their cigarette intake and reduce their health risks.
